ED Raid: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched searches at 18 locations across Karnataka as part of a money laundering investigation. The premises being searched include the residences of Karnataka minister Satish Jarkiholi and his daughter Priyanka Jarkiholi, who is the Lok Sabha MP from Chikkodi.
According to officials, the latest searches are linked to a separate money laundering case involving Satish Jarkiholi and are not connected to the excise-related investigation involving his brother-in-law Y. Manjunath.
The agency is also searching properties linked to Y. Manjunath, who is married to Satish Jarkiholi’s younger sister Mahadevi.
ED Clarifies Searches Are Part of a New Case
The ED headquarters has clarified that the searches at the residences of Satish Jarkiholi and Priyanka Jarkiholi are part of a new case.
Officials said the investigation is separate from the earlier case involving Manjunath. Manjunath, originally from Harapanahalli in Ballari district, currently serves as an Additional Commissioner in the Excise Department in the Belagavi division.
The ongoing searches are aimed at gathering evidence and examining financial transactions allegedly linked to the money laundering investigation.
ED Had Conducted Searches in June
The latest action follows searches conducted by the ED on June 24 at locations associated with Manjunath in Belagavi, Bengaluru and Mysuru.
During those searches, the agency reportedly identified assets worth around ₹13.3 crore, which officials said were disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The ED also recovered documents described as potentially incriminating, including a diary, during the earlier searches.
At the time, Satish Jarkiholi declined to comment on the raids involving his brother-in-law. He said he would wait for the outcome of the investigation before making any statement.
The latest searches mark a fresh development in the ED’s money laundering probe in Karnataka, with investigators examining multiple properties and financial links connected to the case.
