PM Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat and Maharashtra on September 8, where he will inaugurate, dedicate to the nation and lay foundation stones for development projects worth more than Rs 35,000 crore in Vadodara. He will also inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai and address the gathering.

PM Modi in Vadodara
During his Vadodara visit, PM Modi will dedicate three major sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) to the nation. Together, the sections cover 326 route kilometres and have been developed at a cost of more than Rs 20,700 crore.
The three sections are:
- Sanand (North)–Makarpura
- New Umbergaon–New Saphale
- New Saphale–JNPT
The direct connection to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) is expected to speed up the movement of export-import cargo, improve links between industrial centres and ports, lower logistics costs and help reduce congestion on Mumbai’s railway network.
With these sections becoming operational, the Dedicated Freight Corridor network will be fully operational across its entire length. The dedicated freight infrastructure is designed to strengthen India’s logistics ecosystem through better multimodal connectivity, shorter transit times and smoother cargo movement between regions.
PM Modi will also flag off freight train services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon and New JNPT in Mumbai.
New Railway Projects in Gujarat
The Prime Minister will flag off a new train service between Vadodara and Tanda Road, benefiting residents of Vadodara, Chhota Udaipur and Alirajpur districts.
He will also dedicate the Jobat–Tanda Road new rail line to the nation. The line has been developed under the Chhota Udaipur–Dhar railway project and will connect remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur with the national rail network.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stones for three railway projects covering 329 kilometres, with a combined cost of more than Rs 9,700 crore:
- Vadodara–Ratlam third and fourth railway lines
- Miyagam Karjan–Choranda–Malsar gauge conversion
- Vishwamitri–Dabhoi doubling project
These projects are aimed at increasing passenger and freight capacity, reducing congestion and improving connectivity between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
National Highway Projects
PM Modi will lay the foundation stones for three National Highway projects costing around Rs 1,780 crore.
The projects include:
- Six-laning of the Kamrej–Chalthan section of NH-48
- Construction of additional structures, including major bridges over the Tapi and Narmada rivers, on the Vadodara–Surat section of NH-48
- Grade-separated structures at Abhava, Mindhola and Khajod junctions on NH-53
He will also inaugurate six-lane flyovers at Kandari Chokdi and Luvara Patia to improve road safety and address identified black spots along the Vadodara–Surat section of NH-48.
Gujarat Government Projects Worth Rs 2,600 Crore
Several Gujarat government projects worth around Rs 2,600 crore will also be launched or inaugurated.
Foundation stones will be laid for major projects including:
- Phase II of the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road
- A 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam
- A new Vadodara Municipal Corporation office building
Projects to be inaugurated include housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and a water supply project covering 11 villages in eastern Vadodara, among others.
