A well-known neurosurgeon from Hyderabad, Dr. Kasakūrti Jagadish, died after his Volvo car caught fire following a severe road accident in Telangana’s Suryapet district on Sunday morning.
The accident took place at around 7:15 am near Pillalamarri on the Khammam-Hyderabad highway. According to the preliminary information, the car reportedly went out of control, hit the road divider and caught fire shortly after the impact.
Car Catches Fire After Divider Collision
Initial reports suggest that Dr. Jagadish was driving the Volvo when the vehicle suddenly became uncontrollable and crashed into the divider. The impact was followed by a fire that quickly engulfed the entire car.
Passersby alerted the police after noticing the accident. However, by the time firefighters reached the spot and brought the blaze under control, the vehicle had been completely destroyed.
The doctor was trapped inside the burning car and died from the effects of the fire and smoke inhalation, according to the information available from the incident.
Doctor Was Returning to Hyderabad
Police identified the victim through the vehicle’s registration number as Dr. Kasakūrti Jagadish, who worked as a neurosurgeon at Mamata Hospital in Khammam.
He was reportedly returning from Khammam to Hyderabad to meet his family after completing his work.
Police Investigating Possible Drowsiness
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that the doctor may have dozed off while driving, potentially causing him to lose control of the vehicle. However, this remains an initial possibility, and investigators are examining all aspects of the crash.
A forensic team has collected the burnt remains and other evidence from the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
