Delhi Police impose a five-day ban on drones, kites, balloons and other aerial activities ahead of the BRICS 2026 summit
Delhi Police have restricted several aerial activities, including drone and kite flying, from September 10 to September 14, 2026, as part of BRICS 2026 security measures.

The order, issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, will remain in effect from September 10, 2026, to September 14, 2026. The restrictions have been introduced in view of potential security threats during the international summit.

Which Flying Devices Are Banned in Delhi?

Under the order, several aerial platforms and recreational flying activities have been prohibited across Delhi during the specified period.

The restrictions cover:

  • Paragliders
  • Para-motors
  • Hang-gliders
  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)
  • Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)
  • Microlight aircraft
  • Remotely operated aircraft
  • Hot-air balloons
  • Small powered aircraft
  • Quadcopters
  • Para-jumping from aircraft
  • Kite flying
  • Balloon advertising

The restrictions are aimed at preventing unauthorised aerial activity that could create security concerns around the summit.

Why Has Delhi Police Imposed the Restrictions?

According to the Police Commissioner’s office, there is a possibility that criminal, anti-social and anti-India elements could misuse such aerial platforms.

Unregulated or unauthorised flying activity could potentially pose a threat to the general public, dignitaries and important installations, particularly while Delhi is hosting a major international event.

The police have therefore considered it necessary to place temporary restrictions on these activities as part of the overall security arrangements for BRICS-2026.

Order Issued Under Section 163 of BNSS

The Delhi Police Commissioner has exercised powers under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, to enforce the restrictions.

The order will be applicable for five days, from September 10 through September 14, 2026.

The temporary restrictions are part of the security measures being implemented in the capital during the BRICS-2026 summit, with authorities keeping a close watch on potential aerial threats.
