Delhi School POCSO Case: A three-year-old nursery student was allegedly sexually abused by a cab driver at a private school in Bawana, Delhi. Delhi Police have arrested the accused and registered a case under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to a report by news agency ANI, police said the accused allegedly lured the child with chocolates and subjected her to inappropriate touching on multiple occasions.
How the Incident Came to Light
The incident came to light after the girl’s mother noticed changes in her behavior. The child subsequently told her mother about a “bad uncle” who would give her chocolates.
The child’s parents informed the school administration, which reviewed CCTV footage from the premises. As the girl did not know the accused’s name, school officials showed her photographs and CCTV footage to help identify him.
Police said CCTV footage allegedly showed the accused carrying chocolates while moving around the school. He allegedly followed the child toward a washroom, offered her chocolate and assaulted her under a staircase.
Police Investigation
Following the complaint, Delhi Police registered an FIR under the POCSO Act and arrested the accused, identified as Vikas.
Police said the man had been working as a cab driver for the private school for around eight months. During the investigation, officials also reportedly found videos on his phone showing him feeding chocolates to young children.
Investigators are now working to identify the children seen in the videos so that they can be provided appropriate support and counselling.
The CCTV footage from the school has also been taken into police custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
