Mahindra Thar OG: Mahindra has launched the updated three-door Thar in India with a starting price of ₹10.32 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV is now called the Thar OG and gets updates to its platform, suspension, steering, engines, safety equipment and styling.
The Thar OG is available in three trims — AXT, LXT and ZXT — with three engine options and both RWD and 4WD configurations depending on the variant. The introductory prices extend up to ₹18.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra Thar OG Price
The new Thar OG starts at ₹10.32 lakh for the base AXT variant. The range goes up to ₹18.99 lakh for the top-spec ZXT 2.2-litre diesel 4WD automatic.
Mahindra has stated that the introductory prices are applicable to deliveries made until November 30, 2026. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin from October 11, 2026.

Thar OG Gets New Platform and Suspension
The Thar OG is based on Mahindra’s M_Glyde 4G platform, which the company says offers higher structural stiffness.
The SUV also gets a new PENTALINK rear suspension with Watts Link, along with Electric Power Steering (EPS). Mahindra says these changes are intended to improve ride quality, stability and everyday manoeuvrability.
The top-spec ZXT additionally gets Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD), marketed by Mahindra as DAVINCI Damping technology.
Three Engine Options
The Mahindra Thar OG continues with three engine choices.
The entry-level 1.5-litre D117 CRDe diesel produces 119hp and 300Nm and is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The 2.2-litre mHawk diesel has been upgraded to 152hp and 330Nm, while the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol produces 162hp and 330Nm. Both larger engines are available with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options depending on the variant.
The Thar OG is available with RWD and 4WD, depending on the engine, transmission and trim.
Top Variant: Thar OG ZXT 2.2 Diesel 4WD AT
The range-topping version of the new Thar OG is the ZXT 2.2-litre diesel 4WD automatic, priced at ₹18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It uses the upgraded 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine producing 152hp and 330Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The top-spec ZXT gets several features that are not available on the lower trims.

Thar OG Gets New Design
Mahindra has retained the familiar three-door silhouette but introduced several styling changes.
The Thar OG gets a new grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, C-shaped LED DRLs, LED fog lamps with cornering function and new LED taillamps. The SUV also gets a wider track and new R19 alloy wheels on the ZXT.
Mahindra has also introduced two new exterior colours — Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue — taking the total colour choice to eight.
New Features Inside the Cabin
The Thar OG gets a more feature-rich cabin, particularly from the LXT trim onwards.
The LXT and ZXT get a 26.03cm (10.25-inch) HD touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. These variants also get a colour MID, electrically adjustable ORVMs, cruise control and a rear wiper and washer.
The ZXT adds a wireless charger and embossed leatherette seats.
Mahindra has also introduced a soft second-row armrest with an integrated cupholder and says the updated SUV benefits from enhanced NVH damping for a more refined cabin experience.
Thar OG Safety Features
Safety equipment has also been upgraded on the top-spec version.
The ZXT gets six airbags, including four HPTS airbags designed to provide additional protection to front and rear occupants. It also gets all-disc brakes, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, rear-view camera and front parking sensors.
The lower AXT and LXT variants retain dual airbags and front disc/rear drum brakes, while ESP with rollover mitigation is available from the base variant.
Thar OG Launch and Deliveries
The Mahindra Thar OG was launched in India on September 22, 2026. The introductory price starts at ₹10.32 lakh and goes up to ₹18.99 lakh for the top-spec ZXT diesel 4WD automatic.
Mahindra has confirmed that deliveries will begin from October 11, 2026, while the introductory pricing is valid for deliveries made until November 30, 2026.
The updated three-door Thar continues the original Thar formula while adding a newer platform, revised suspension, stronger engines, more technology and additional safety equipment.
